What
are Cambridge ESOL Exams?
Cambridge ESOL is part of the Cambridge Assessment department of the University
of Cambridge which provides exams and tests covering a wide range of subjects
and levels. More than 8 million exams are taken every year in over 150
countries. All of the Cambridge ESOL exams are respected for their quality,
fairness and positive educational impact.
Cambridge ESOL
exams are the world's leading range of certificates for learners
of English. Each year they are taken by over 1.75 million people
in 135 countries. They can help you gain entrance to a university
or college, improve your job prospects and measure your progress
in English.
Cconsist of a suite of internationally recognised English language
qualifications for learning at all levels within different contexts. All
Cambridge ESOL exams are linked to the Common
European Framework of Reference for Language which provides a benchmark for assessing
communicative ability in a number of languages. Cambridge
ESOL exams are in fact the only exams referred to in the Framework
document as being specifically linked to it by a long-term research
project. All Cambridge ESOL qualifications are plotted against
6 clearly defined levels. This makes it easy for anyone involved
in language learning such as learners, teachers and teacher trainers
to recognize the level of different qualifications. In addition,
employers and educational institutes can easily compare qualifications
and see how they relate to the exams they already know in their
own country.
